American Leadership Academy

What Is It Known For?

Glenn Way founded American Leadership Academy in 2009, creating Arizona’s first comprehensive charter school network that combines academic coursework with hands-on career training. This approach changed how students access vocational education by integrating trade school programs directly into traditional high school settings.

Here, students can complete both their core studies and specialized career programs at a single campus, removing the hassle of traveling between different facilities for various parts of their education. The network has expanded significantly since its launch, now operating over 30 schools throughout Arizona, North and South Carolina, and serving 13,594 students as of June 2024, all while maintaining its tuition-free model for families.

Degrees & Certifications

Students can select from ten different career-focused programs:

  • Automotive
  • Aviation
  • Business & Finance
  • Construction
  • Cosmetology
  • Education
  • First Responder
  • Health Services
  • Hospitality
  • Technology

Class Schedules

The academy operates on a flexible scheduling system that accommodates different student needs. Full onsite programs typically run Monday through Friday with two main session options: 8 AM to 11 AM or 9 AM to 12 PM. This compressed schedule allows students to complete their education efficiently while leaving time for other activities or work.

Adult education students benefit from additional scheduling flexibility through evening, weekend, and summer class options. These alternative schedules help working adults balance their education with existing responsibilities. The programs do not include externship components as part of their curriculum structure.

Is It a Good School?

Yes. American Leadership Academy maintains accreditation through Cognia, a global nonprofit organization recognized for its legacy in school improvement and accreditation standards.

Acceptance Rate

The academy operates under a 100% acceptance rate, making education accessible to all students regardless of academic background.

How Much Does Tuition Cost?

As a charter school, American Leadership Academy provides tuition-free education to all students. However, adult education programs are offered at budget-friendly rates with manageable out-of-pocket payment options. Since most programs are free, the school does not provide a net price calculator.
