With over 40 years of experience, the teachers at California Hair Design Academy provide each student with the training needed to become a licensed cosmetologist. The La Mesa-based school is family owned and operated and has a long track record of success. Most graduates pass the state licensing exam on the first try.
The school offers cosmetology and barbering programs that help aspiring estheticians and manicurists meet customer needs. Teacher training is available to attendees with a current cosmetology license. CHDA also operates a salon and spa for real-world experience in each prospective field.

Financial Aid Services
CHDA participates in the Federal Student Loan program. Upon acceptance to the college, students fill out a FAFSA to see if they qualify for aid. Private scholarships, as well as federal and state-based grants, are other methods of covering tuition costs. University financial aid officers are available to answer questions and help students with any required paperwork.
Veteran and Military Services
Veterans and their eligible spouses are welcome at CHDA. The academy accepts most G.I. Bill benefits, as well as payments through the MyCAA program. In addition, enrollees have access to continuing education courses and school partnerships with companies like TIGI and Dermalogica.
Alumni Services
Protected by a login screen, the school’s job board is only open to alumni. Graduates must contact CHDA to receive access to this helpful resource. The academy also connects local salon owners with current students to open the door for potential job opportunities.
