City College has closed
City College, a private Florida college, announced on 15 July 2024 that it would stop enrolling new students and teach out its remaining programs. At the time it had two campuses, in Hollywood and Altamonte Springs; it previously also operated in Gainesville, Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Reporters visiting the Hollywood campus days after the announcement found no sign of classes continuing.
If you were a student
- Transcripts and records: Florida’s Commission for Independent Education handles records for many closed private schools in the state.
- Federal student loans: if you were enrolled when the school closed, or left shortly before it closed, you may qualify for a closed school discharge of your federal loans. Students who finished their program or transferred credits to a comparable program elsewhere usually do not qualify.
