New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute

What Is It Known For?

Ti Martin, Dickie Brennan, George Brower, and Carol Markowitz co-founded the New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) in 2013. After years of planning and preparation, the school launched its first classes in 2019.

NOCHI operates as a nonprofit with a clear purpose to equip people with the confidence and skills required to succeed in culinary and hospitality careers.

The school also has a 16:1 student-instructor ratio, which means you get personal attention and plenty of hands-on training.

Degrees & Certifications

Once you complete your program at NOCHI, you’ll receive a certificate of completion.

Between the Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts paths, you’ll work through 25 different subjects (up to 650 hours of learning real techniques).

Restaurant operations, culinary math, ServSafe® certification, and running your own pop-up café all come bundled into the coursework.

NOCHI also offers industry training with different timeframes:

Class Schedules

NOCHI does not offer virtual or online classes. You can attend either the daytime schedule (Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) or the evening schedule (Monday through Friday, 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.). Both options include a 45-minute lunch break.

The programs do not include clinical externships since the focus stays on culinary and hospitality rather than healthcare fields.

Is It a Good School?

Yes. The Commission of the Council on Occupational Education has accredited NOCHI, giving the institute official recognition for its programs and standards.

Acceptance Rate

NOCHI does not publish its acceptance rate. However, after you submit a complete application package, the school reviews your information and notifies you of its decision within 90 days.

How Much Does Tuition Cost?

Tuition at NOCHI costs $16,000. Including fees, your total comes to $16,911 for Baking & Pastry Arts or $16,951 for Culinary Arts. The school’s net price calculator can help you estimate your actual costs beyond tuition and fees.

Industry training options vary in price. For example, the Hospitality Leadership Academy costs $500, while LS4L is free. Contact the school for cost details about other programs.
