A one-campus IT school in Los Angeles, with live online classes
ABCO Technology is a privately owned career school that teaches information technology only: cybersecurity, networking, cloud administration, programming, web development and computer support. It was founded in 2000 and first opened in Culver City, according to its catalog. By 2022 it had moved to its current campus on W. Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles.
Every class is live and taught by an instructor, whether students attend in person, online or both, and all programs can be taken fully online. Most students do: in 2023-24, 59 of its 75 students studied only online, and 40 of them lived outside California, according to federal IPEDS data. Most programs are built around industry certification exams rather than general education.
Nine programs: one degree and eight diplomas
The 2026-27 catalog lists one associate degree and eight diplomas. Credits are quarter credits; a quarter is ten weeks. Where the school’s program pages and its performance fact sheet give different lengths, the table says so.

Some names are out of date. The MCSE diploma is now mostly Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services cloud training, and the Linux diploma is called Linux Professional in the fee table. ABCO no longer offers its stand-alone Adobe design courses, Oracle Database Administrator or Certified Internet Webmaster programs. No program includes an externship, none has programmatic accreditation, and none leads to a state licence.
What the main programs cover
AAS in Cyber Security & IT Specialist
The associate degree is 90 quarter credits over about 18 months, in 25 courses. General education comes through IT English Composition, Math for IT and Technical Writing. The technical sequence runs through A+, Network+, Security+, Linux, CCNA I and II, Ethical Hacking (CEH), CySA+ I and II, Azure Fundamentals and Network Design I to III, and the school lists the matching CompTIA, Cisco, EC-Council, Microsoft and LPIC-1 exams. The degree started in September 2022. Job titles the school names include SOC analyst, systems administrator and penetration tester.
Cyber Security Professional
This 74-credit diploma has 18 courses and no general education. It covers IT Foundations, A+, Network+, Security Systems, Linux, CCNA I and II, Ethical Hacking (CEH), CySA+ I and II and Penetration Tester I and II, and ends with a career workshop. It prepares for CompTIA ITF+, A+, Network+ and Security+, Linux, CCNA, PenTest+, CEH and CySA+. The program page and the performance fact sheet give different lengths, so ask for the schedule in writing. It was the school’s largest program in 2024, with 74 starts.
Web Designer & Developer
The 66-credit diploma is built on the CIW framework: CIW Site Development Associate, User Interface Designer I and II and JavaScript Specialist I and II. Students also take HTML, CSS and JavaScript I and II, TypeScript with Angular and React, object-oriented Python I and II, MongoDB I and II, software testing and quality assurance, and a two-part capstone. Design content is limited to one Adobe Photoshop course. The school names web designer, UI/UX designer, front-end and full-stack developer and QA tester as target jobs.
Programmer
The 40-credit Programmer diploma starts with an introduction to object-oriented programming, then covers mobile and web apps with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, Python I and II, Java I and II, Programming for Android OS and Building Mobile Applications for Android/iOS, and ends with a two-part capstone. No certification exam is attached. The two mobile courses are the school’s only app-development training; there is no separate mobile program. MCSE: cloud administration
Despite its name, the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer diploma is now mostly cloud training. Its 21 quarter credits, over about five months, cover Azure Fundamentals, Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer, AWS Cloud Practitioner and Network Design & Implementation. The exams it prepares for are Microsoft’s Azure Administrator Associate and DevOps Engineer Expert and the AWS Cloud Practitioner. The school links it to systems administrator, cloud specialist, systems engineer, DevOps engineer and network administrator jobs.
CCNA, Linux+ and CompTIA A+
Three short diplomas each prepare for one certification. The Cisco Certified Network Associate diploma is 4.5 quarter credits, about a month, in two courses: Internetwork Cisco OS and CCNA Advanced. The Linux Administrator diploma (7 credits) prepares for CompTIA Linux+. The CompTIA A+ diploma (5 credits) covers A+ Hardware Essentials and A+ OS Core for exams 220-1101 and 220-1102. The program pages say prep materials, study guides and practice tests are included; ask whether exam vouchers are too.
What each program costs in 2026-27, and how students pay
ABCO charges by program at a per-credit rate, and each total includes books, supplies, materials and the non-refundable $125 registration fee, per the 2026-27 catalog. There are no in-state, out-of-state or online rates: the same per-credit rates apply to full-time students on campus and online.

The federal average net price was $14,419 a year in 2024 (IPEDS). ABCO takes federal aid (Pell Grants, FSEOG, Federal Work-Study and Direct Loans), the GI Bill and VR&E, WIOA and Department of Rehabilitation funding, and it is on California’s eligible training provider list. Its interest-free payment plan requires a recent pay stub, so the student must be employed. Students get a full refund up to the first class day or seven days after enrolling, whichever is later, and a pro-rata refund until 60% of the quarter has passed.
In 2024, 21% of students had federal loans, the average graduate’s federal debt was $2,128 and the three-year default rate was zero, per the school’s 2024 BPPE annual report. Veterans pay a $10 registration fee instead of $125. GI Bill benefits stop if a student’s cumulative GPA is below 2.0 after the first academic year.
Applying and class schedule
Applicants complete an application and an admissions interview, a financial-aid review and an enrollment agreement. Online students need a computer with high-speed internet and an online orientation; a webcam and microphone are preferred. Teaching is in English only. Transfer credit is reviewed case by case, but at least 65% of a program’s credits must be earned at ABCO. The 2026-27 calendar has ten roughly month-long sessions, so courses start about once a month. Classes are usually scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and the catalog caps classes at 15 students on campus and 20 online.
Accreditation and the school’s own results
ABCO says it is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), an accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and is approved to operate by California’s Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE), per its accreditation page. ABCO does not appear in the recent ACCSC public notices we checked. It is an authorized Cisco Networking Academy; EC-Council appears only as a courseware vendor, not a partner.
The school’s School Performance Fact Sheet reports 2024 results for every program; the table shows the three largest. “On time” means finishing within the published program length; “employed in the field” counts graduates working in a related job within six months, out of those available for work. These are the school’s own figures. The other six programs had six or fewer students each in 2024.

IPEDS counted 75 students in fall 2024. The school’s state reports count everyone enrolled at any point in the year: 225 in 2024, down from 732 in 2022, according to BPPE’s 2022 annual report and the school’s 2024 report.
Before you enroll
- Enrollment has fallen sharply, from 732 students during 2022 to 225 during 2024 by the school’s own state reports. Ask how many students are in the program and session you would join.
- The Cyber Security Professional diploma, the largest program, had a 58% on-time completion rate in 2024, so more than four in ten students took longer or did not finish within the published length.
- Program names can mislead: the MCSE diploma is mainly Azure and AWS cloud content, and the Web Designer & Developer diploma is a coding program with one Photoshop course, not graphic design training.
- Programs are certification-prep, with no externship and no programmatic accreditation. Ask whether exam vouchers are included, since the program pages mention only prep materials and practice tests.
- The interest-free payment plan is only for students with a job and a recent pay stub.
The Slauson Avenue campus
The only campus is at 4314 W. Slauson Avenue, 2nd Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90043. The catalog describes a 4,800-square-foot site with six classrooms and labs, a student lounge and free parking. All nine programs are taught there, each is also offered live online, and there are no branch campuses.
Career help and housing
Career services include resume building, workshops, counseling and a list of employers. They are free for six months after graduation to graduates who take part and have no outstanding balance, and there is no job guarantee. ABCO has no student housing; with two weeks’ notice it will share local housing resources, without a guarantee.
