AlliedRx: online healthcare certificates with a Saturday campus near Richmond
Allied RX Institute of Healthcare Training, which calls itself AlliedRx Institute of Healthcare, is a private school that sells short healthcare certificate courses. Each course prepares students for a national certification exam run by a body such as the NHA, AMT, AMCA, PTCB or AAPC. Most courses are 100% online and self-paced, and the school markets them to students in all 50 states. Its one campus, in Henrico County outside Richmond, Virginia, runs Saturday hybrid cohorts in clinical medical assisting and phlebotomy. The school has no institutional accreditation and does not take federal student aid; students pay through low-deposit plans, workforce (WIOA) funding or military tuition programs. The school says it has more than 2,500 graduates.
Seven certificate courses, all exam prep
All seven are certificates of completion, not college credit. Lengths are the school’s weeks for its 2026 schedule; online students get six months of access and can start at any time.

The only hands-on placement the school spells out is the medical assistant internship. The phlebotomy and pharmacy technician pages mention an externship but give no hours or sites, and the EKG and dental courses rely on simulations. The school also lists an American Red Cross blended CPR course.
What the main programs cover
Clinical Medical Assistant
The course is made up of two parts, and it includes the 80-hour internship that every CCMA student completes. There are two routes to a placement: the school requests a place with DaVita, which then assigns the clinic, or Concentra matches the student to one of its sites, which it says number more than 700 in 44 states. Online students study at their own pace; the hybrid cohort meets on Saturdays in Henrico for five weeks and then continues online. The school says no prior experience is needed.
Phlebotomy Technician
Online students learn venipuncture through lab work and simulation, including a patient-arm simulator, and the course page does not state how many live blood draws a student must complete. The hybrid version is the route with regular in-person practice: the November 2026 cohort meets on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm for weeks one to five and then moves online for the rest of the 12 weeks. The school’s program guide also describes a weekend fast-track, but the 2026 schedule lists only the Saturday cohort.
Pharmacy Technician
This course is taught entirely online, with virtual labs and no campus visits, over 14 weeks. It prepares students for either the PTCB’s Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam or the NHA ExCPT. The school notes that Virginia and Ohio require a pharmacy technician trainee licence, which costs about $25 and is not included in tuition. A clinical externship is mentioned on the program page, but the school does not say how long it is or who arranges it.
EKG Technician
The EKG course runs 10 weeks, either self-paced or with an instructor-led virtual class. Students practise with live EKG simulations, including placing leads for a 12-lead recording. The course page does not mention recording EKGs on real patients, and certification bodies set their own eligibility rules, so check with the school how its graduates qualify to sit the NHA Certified EKG Technician exam before enrolling. It is not offered on the Henrico campus.
Medical Billing & Coding Specialist
The 14-week online course covers ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding, CPT and HCPCS procedure coding, completing the CMS-1500 claim form, and compliance. It is built around three different exams: the AAPC’s Certified Professional Coder, the NHA’s Certified Billing and Coding Specialist and AHIMA’s Certified Coding Associate. No externship or practicum is described. Students can work through it at their own pace or join an instructor-led virtual class.
Registered Dental Assistant
The dental course is 100% online, with no campus visits and no clinical hours; it uses dental simulations and includes lessons on dental radiography. It prepares students for AMT’s Registered Dental Assistant exam, a national credential. The program page attributes that exam to DANB, which is wrong, and part of its curriculum text describes pharmacy content, so ask the school for an up-to-date course outline. The 2026 schedule gives 14 weeks and the program page 12.
2026 tuition: flat rates and no federal aid
AlliedRx charges one flat rate per course, with no in-state or out-of-state tiers, and says the same rates apply to military and WIOA-funded students, per its 2026 tuition page.

On top of tuition there is a non-refundable registration fee, which the tuition page gives as $100 (waived for military students) while the program pages and the 2026 schedule give $49 ($99 for Pharmacy Technician). A lab and technology fee of about $50 applies to every course except Phlebotomy, EKG and Dental, textbooks cost about $30 or more, and certification exam fees are not included.
Paying in full takes 10% off tuition. Otherwise there are three zero-interest plans with no credit check, each starting with a $99 down payment: 10 weekly payments, 5 bi-weekly payments or 3 monthly payments. On a $1,450 course the monthly plan works out to roughly $450 a month. Promotional plans don’t apply to military or WIOA enrollments.
There is no FAFSA or other federal student aid. The school says it is approved for WIOA workforce funding, which eligible students apply for through their local American Job Center, and it accepts Army Credentialing Assistance, Air Force COOL and the MyCAA scholarship for military spouses, according to its funding page. The site does not mention the GI Bill.
AmeriCorps members can use their Segal Education Award here, and the school matches it 100%, per the AmeriCorps list of schools. The school mentions scholarships but names no award or amount.
Admissions and schedule
Online courses are self-paced, start at any time and come with six months of access; Medical Billing & Coding, EKG and Clinical Medical Assistant also have an instructor-led virtual option. The program pages say no prior experience is needed, and international online students must be at least 18. The only campus cohort on the 2026 class schedule is the Saturday hybrid in Henrico, starting 7 November 2026; check the school’s schedule for the registration deadline. Accreditation and outcomes
AlliedRx has no institutional accreditation from an agency recognized by the US Department of Education. The NHA, AMT and AMCA, which the school lists as bodies it is “accredited through”, are certification bodies whose exams its courses prepare for; they do not accredit schools. On its accreditation and approvals page, the school says it is certified to operate by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and approved by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. We could not check any of these claims in the agencies’ own lists in October 2026.
The school’s only outcome figures are its own claims for the 2025 testing year: a pass rate of 90% or more on the NHA phlebotomy exam, 88% or more for the CCMA and 80% on the PTCB exam, per its phlebotomy page and other program pages. It gives no number of test-takers and does not say how the rates are counted. The school is not in federal IPEDS data, so there are no federal graduation or earnings figures.
Before you enroll
- No institutional accreditation and no federal aid: these are certificate courses for exam preparation, not college credit, and are unlikely to transfer.
- The dental course has no clinical hours. Its AMT credential is not a Virginia dental assistant registration, and Virginia lets dental assistants take x-rays only with a radiation course from a CODA-accredited institution, ARRT certification or DANB’s radiation exam, per the Virginia Board of Dentistry regulations.
- The online phlebotomy and EKG courses rely on simulation, and the school does not say how many live blood draws or patient EKGs students complete. Check the certification exam’s eligibility rules first.
- The school’s pages give two different registration fees ($100 and $49) and we found no published refund policy beyond the statement that the registration fee is non-refundable. Get the fees and refund terms in writing before paying.
- Several program pages show unfinished template text, and some schedule pages still carry 2024 and 2025 dates. Confirm lengths, dates and exam options with admissions.
The Henrico campus and the closed Newport News site
AlliedRx’s one campus is at 2105 East Parham Road, #108, Henrico, VA 23228, in Henrico County with a Richmond mailing address. The school’s own website shows no street address; this one comes from the AmeriCorps school list and Virginia’s eligible training provider records. A former site at 603 J Clyde Morris Boulevard in Newport News, Virginia, is marked permanently closed in the Virginia training-provider record. The school’s Philadelphia web page is a landing page for its online courses, not a campus.
