What Is It Known For?

American River College traces its roots back to 1942, when Grant Union Junior College opened in Del Paso Heights to train civilians for wartime service. The school became Grant Technical College in 1945, then joined the newly formed Los Rios Community College District in 1965 and took its current name.

Today, this state-funded community college serves over 30,000 students each year, ranking among California’s largest. As part of the Los Rios Community College District, the school maintains strong connections throughout the region and offers pathways to both immediate employment and university transfer.
