What Is It Known For?
The Bennett family incorporated Bennett Career Institute in the District of Columbia on August 29, 1996. Since then, this family-owned business has grown to serve around 200 students annually who come looking for hands-on training in beauty and barbering trades.
Mr. Bennett built the school around a clear vision: graduates should walk out ready to compete for real jobs in the marketplace. To make that happen, he assembled a faculty of licensed instructors who bring years of combined experience in both working and teaching their crafts. Students learn through a mix of classroom lectures, demonstrations, and audio-visual presentations.
Degrees & Certifications
After satisfying your learning and financial requirements, Bennett Career Institute awards you a Certificate of Completion. Programs vary in length. Some, like Make-up Artistry, take just 6 weeks, while full-time Cosmetology and Barber Styling stretch to 18 months.
Your options include:
- Cosmetology
- Barber Styling
- Instructor Manager
- Esthetics
- Manicuring 1, and more.
Class Schedules
Full-time day students attend classes from Tuesday to Friday (9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). Saturdays start earlier at 8 a.m. and run until 3:45 p.m. Part-time day students follow a shorter schedule: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Tuesday to Friday) and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Evening classes and online options give you another way to fit training into your schedule.
Most of your hands-on learning happens inside the school’s full-service student salon and barber shop. Related field trips round out your education. Because these programs focus on beauty and barbering trades, clinical externships are not part of the curriculum.
