Spanish-language HVAC short courses in Greensboro
Capacitate HVAC is a small training center in Greensboro, North Carolina, run by Excel Tech Heat & Air Services LLC, an HVAC contracting company. It teaches short weekend courses on diagnosing heat pumps, gas furnaces and controls and motors, offers the EPA 608 refrigerant certification exam, and runs a prep class for North Carolina’s H-3 HVAC contractor licence exam. Classes are taught in Spanish; English versions of the courses are listed as coming soon. The school says about 80% of class time is hands-on, in groups of about five or six, and that its instructor holds North Carolina HVAC contractor and electrical licences. It also trains employees for companies.
It is not a college and does not offer a full HVAC technician program. For longer diploma and degree programs, see our North Carolina trade schools page.

Many course pages still show 2025 dates or leave the price blank, so confirm the next date and the price with the school before planning around a course. What the courses cover
Heat pump and gas furnace troubleshooting
Both are two-day weekend courses. The heat pump course is about diagnosing a heat pump system. The gas furnace course covers safety, the sequence of operation, combustion, motors, safety switches and controls. Each ends in a certificate of completion. The Spanish versions are the ones the school lists; the English pages are marked coming soon.
Controls and motors troubleshooting
A one-day Saturday course on compressors, PSC and ECM motors, Honeywell HZ432 and HZ311 zone panels, and thermostats. Like the other courses, it is split roughly 20% classroom and 80% lab, on operating equipment and simulators, and ends in a certificate of completion.
EPA 608 certification exam
An exam session rather than a course. Candidates can take the Core section and Types I, II and III; passing all four gives Universal certification. Each section has 25 questions and needs 18 correct to pass, and results are sent by email. The exam can be taken in English or Spanish.
NC H-3 contractor exam prep
A two-day weekend class (8 am to 5 pm) for the H-3 Class I or Class II HVAC contractor exam. The licence itself is issued by the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors. It is taught in Spanish with an English and Spanish study guide, and runs only with at least five students. Code books and ACCA Manuals D, J, N and Q are not included, but can be borrowed free on class day if reserved. One-on-one courses on the 2018 NC State Building Code and load calculation are also offered.
Cost and how to pay
The school’s H-3 prep page lists the 7-8 November 2026 class at $525: a deposit of at least $225, with $300 due on class day. Cancelling 10 or more days ahead gets a full refund; 6 to 10 days ahead costs a $50 fee with a credit; within 5 days there is no refund, and no-shows still owe the balance.
The HVAC courses page showed a $450 registration price in October 2026, or a $150 deposit to reserve a place, without naming which course it applies to. Students can pay with PayPal Pay in 4 (the site’s example is four payments of $112.50 every two weeks), a PayPal invoice arranged by phone, or a Square deposit link.
The English Controls and Motors page listed that course at $275 in October 2026, but the English version is not yet running. Other course pages post no price. There is no federal student aid, the school mentions no GI Bill approval or scholarships, and students arrange their own lodging.
Who can enroll and when classes run
The school’s Spanish pages say no GED and no Social Security number are required. Enrollment is by appointment or phone. Classes run on weekends only, Saturday and Sunday, from 8 am to 5 pm on the Spanish course pages (the English pages say 8 am to 4 pm).
No accreditation and no published results
Capacitate HVAC has no accreditor and is not approved for federal student aid. It is not listed in the North Carolina State Board of Proprietary Schools’ 2023-24 directory, and we could not confirm whether it holds or needs a state licence; ask the school if this matters to you. The instructor’s North Carolina contractor and electrical licences, as the school describes them, are personal licences, not approval of the school.
The school publishes no completion, job placement or licence exam pass rates.
Before you sign up
- These are one- and two-day courses. A certificate of completion is not a diploma, and the courses are not a full technician program.
- All courses are taught in Spanish (the EPA 608 exam can also be taken in English). The English versions have been listed as coming soon for some time, so don’t count on them.
- Dates and prices on the site are often out of date or missing. Get the date, price and refund terms confirmed before paying a deposit.
- The H-3 prep class covers the contractor exam only. The licence is issued by the state board, under its own rules.
