Casper College: Wyoming’s public college in Casper
Casper College is a public two-year community college run by the Casper Community College District in Natrona County, and one of the seven Wyoming community colleges coordinated by the Wyoming Community College Commission. It enrolled 4,621 students over the 2024-25 year, 2,770 full-time equivalent, according to the commission’s annual enrollment report; most attended part-time.
The college offers about 100 degree and certificate programs. Alongside transfer degrees in the arts and sciences, it runs career programs in health care, emergency services, the skilled trades and aviation, most of them taught on its single campus or in a hybrid format. The University of Wyoming at Casper, a UW branch campus at the same address, offers UW bachelor’s degrees.

Programmatic accreditation, as the college lists it: ACEN for the Associate Degree in Nursing (next visit March 2027), JRCERT for Radiography (an eight-year award), CoARC for Respiratory Therapy (program 200488), ACOTE for Occupational Therapy Assistant (continued August 2022), CAAHEP on the recommendation of CoAEMSP for Paramedicine, NAACLS for Medical Laboratory Technician and ASHP/ACPE for Pharmacy Technology. The CHEA database also lists NASAD for art and graphic design and NAEYC for Early Childhood Education, and a 2021 Wyoming Community College Commission report lists NASM for music and NAST for theatre.
The college also teaches Automotive Technology, Diesel Power Technology, Auto Body Repair Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing and Automation Technology, Construction Technology, Engineering Technology and Design, Electronics Technology and Graphic Design, each as an AAS (Graphic Design as an AFA) with a shorter certificate, and Hospitality and Tourism Management as an AAS. Twelve programs are fully online, among them Cyber Security, Accounting and Bookkeeping, the Agriculture AS, Early Childhood Education and Office Management, and about 50 more are hybrid, with 70% or more of the work online.
What the main programs cover
Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing
The ADN follows ReNEW, Wyoming’s shared nursing curriculum, which includes a pathway to a University of Wyoming BSN. It runs four semesters, with in-person cohorts starting each fall and spring and a hybrid group of eight starting in fall. Students who stop after the first year can earn the Practical Nursing certificate, which is in person only. Applicants need a 2.8 GPA and a Proficient ATI TEAS score. The college’s June 2026 guide budgets about $1,100 a semester for books and online support, $200 for the NCLEX and $200 for licensure and a background check.
EMS – Paramedicine
Paramedic students choose a one-year certificate, taught in person, or a hybrid AAS or AS of about two years; the year counts start once prerequisites are done. Every route includes more than 1,400 hours of training and ends with eligibility for the NREMT Paramedic exam. Below paramedic, the college’s EMT ladder has a one-semester EMT course, a 17-credit EMT certificate that qualifies for financial aid, and an 8-credit Advanced EMT course. Intermediate-level training runs only at an agency’s request.
Respiratory Therapy
The AS takes 24 months and 84 credits. Students can attend in the Saunders Health Science building or choose the hybrid remote option, which needs a sponsoring clinical partner where the student lives. Clinical rotations use 11 sites in Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado and Montana, and the neonatal rotation is in Montana. Applicants need a 2.3 GPA, 8 hours of observation and three references. CoARC has given the program its Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success Award for 2016-20, 2024 and 2025, an award for graduates’ success on the RRT credentialing exams.
Welding Technology
The AAS takes four semesters and 60 credits, and the certificate one year and 30 credits; both are taught on campus. Students work in shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored and gas tungsten arc welding, including pipe welding, and train for certification testing to the codes AWS D1.1, API 1104 and ASME IX. The college presents the program as preparation for AWS certification.
Electrical Apprenticeship
This 60-credit certificate is the classroom half of an electrical apprenticeship, not a way into the trade. Students must already work under a master electrician and complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training, about 2,000 a year. They take one of eight classes each semester for four years, in a hybrid format with blocks of in-person training, and the program leads to the Wyoming journeyman exam. Electronics Technology is a separate AAS and certificate.
Aviation and pilot training
The 60-credit Aviation AAS is a hybrid degree. Its Private Pilot, Instrument and Commercial Pilot ground and flight courses run under Part 141 through a flight school under contract to the college, at Casper-Natrona County International Airport; ground classes are on campus or online. Flight fees total $69,675, on top of tuition. Casper College has no aircraft maintenance or A&P program, so the degree is for students who want to fly.
Tuition, fees and housing for 2026-27
Casper College publishes per-credit rates for fall 2026 through summer 2027. Wyoming’s community colleges charge one rate to all state residents, and the college lists no separate online rate. Students from states in the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE), Nebraska included, pay the middle rate. 2026-27 resident tuition is about 4.8% higher than in 2025-26.

The college’s yearly summary covers tuition only; the $42 per credit in mandatory fees (technology, facilities, health service and smaller charges) adds $1,260 a year at 15 credits a semester. Some courses carry their own fees, and aviation flight fees total $69,675.
Housing in fall 2026 costs $1,500 a semester for a triple room, $2,130 for a double and $3,200 for a single, with meal plans from $2,035 to $2,170 a semester and a $200 deposit; the Civic and Thorson apartments are $700 a month. The college’s summary puts a year in a double room with the 19-meal plan, deposit included, at $8,620. The college offers federal financial aid, and its net price calculator gives a personal estimate. Niche puts the average net price at $8,376 a year (checked October 2026).
Open admission, with capped entry to four health programs
Casper College admits applicants openly. Four health programs have their own competitive, capped admission: the ADN (32 seats each fall and spring plus 8 hybrid seats in fall, a 2.8 GPA and a Proficient TEAS score, with cutoffs at the end of the second week of June and of November), Respiratory Therapy (2.3 GPA, observation hours and references), Occupational Therapy Assistant (a two-phase application, with the clinical sequence starting each January) and Radiography.
Most health and trade programs are taught in person or as hybrids with on-campus labs, and all the health programs include clinical or fieldwork placements. The college takes part in NC-SARA, so students in other states can enroll in its online programs.
Accreditation and results
Casper College has been accredited since 1960 (first by the North Central Association, now the Higher Learning Commission) and is on HLC’s Open Pathway. Its last full evaluation included a site visit in October 2018, and it submitted an Assurance Review in April 2023. A 2021 Wyoming Community College Commission report schedules the next reaffirmation for 2028-29.

The paramedic program page also shows a 2024 set of results. Casper College’s nursing pages do not publish an NCLEX pass rate; the Wyoming State Board of Nursing publishes yearly NCLEX results for the state’s programs.
Before you enroll
- Aviation flight fees of $69,675 come on top of tuition, and flight training is given by a contracted flight school, not the college. There is no aircraft mechanic (A&P) program.
- The Electrical Apprenticeship is only for people already employed under a master electrician; it does not train newcomers to the trade.
- Fire Science Technology is a degree for firefighters and responders, not a firefighter academy, and its online option needs an affiliation with a response agency.
- The ADN has 32 seats each fall and spring plus 8 hybrid seats in fall, so meeting the minimum GPA and TEAS score does not guarantee a place.
- The college’s annual tuition totals leave out the $42 per credit in mandatory fees, about $1,260 a year for a full-time student.
One campus in Casper
Every credit program is based at 125 College Drive, Casper, WY 82601. Respiratory Therapy is in the Saunders Health Science building, Occupational Therapy Assistant in Aley Hall, and the Pharmacy Technology office is in Liesinger Hall. Clinical placements, from hospital rotations to respiratory therapy sites in neighbouring states, and aviation flight training at Casper-Natrona County International Airport happen off campus. The Western History Center and the Tate Geological and Werner Wildlife museums are also part of the college, and the University of Wyoming at Casper shares the campus address.

On Niche, Casper College is rated 4.0 out of 5 from 334 reviews, with an overall grade of B (checked 10 October 2026). Reviewers most often praise small classes and personal attention from professors, a friendly and supportive campus, and low cost. The most common complaints are online courses that feel less demanding, occasional disorganisation in administrative offices, and mixed views of the cafeteria. The reviews cover the whole college, and we could not tell whether they were invited by the school or posted in bursts.
