What Is It Known For?
Georgia Plumbing Institute has built a reputation around helping working plumbers move forward in their careers. Founded in the mid-1980s by John M. Carter Jr., the school grew from a need to help apprentice plumbers and technicians pass the State of Georgia licensing exams.
Over the past four decades, roughly half of those who passed a State of Georgia Plumber License Exam have taken a class through GPI. That outcome speaks to the institution’s quality instruction.
Degrees & Certifications
GPI operates differently from traditional schools. You will not earn a diploma or associate degree here. Instead, the institute runs short, intensive courses built around exam preparation for the State of Georgia Plumber Licenses, the Journeyman and Master exams.
These programs target experienced professionals who already work in the field.
Class Schedules
Classes at GPI take place on weekends only. Sessions are held on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Master-level students staying till 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Each course meets over five weekends in Marietta, Georgia.
Instruction is fully in person, with no online or hybrid option at this time. Rather than externships, the coursework draws from students’ existing field backgrounds and applies that knowledge directly to exam preparation.
Is It a Good School?
GPI has not published accreditation information. Contact the school for details about licensing. However, the institute’s approximately 90% pass rate speaks to the quality of its specialized instruction and shows that students leave prepared for state exams.
Acceptance Rate
Enrollment to GPI is open to qualified applicants. To attend, individuals must have at least three years of supervised field work under a licensed plumber and an active application with the State of Georgia to sit for the exam.
How Much Does Tuition Cost?
