IntelliTec College: a for-profit trade and health college in Colorado and New Mexico
IntelliTec College began in Colorado Springs in 1965 as Technical Trades Institute, teaching drafting, electronics and appliance repair, and took its current name in 2000. It added Grand Junction in the 1980s, a Pueblo branch in 2005 and an Albuquerque branch in 2015. DVMD LLC, which also owns Asher College, bought the college in June 2019. Since then IntelliTec has taken over IBMC College in northern Colorado (October 2023) and the Euphoria Institute of Beauty Arts and Sciences in Las Vegas (January 2025), which run under their own names and are not covered here.
The four IntelliTec campuses teach ten career programs, from a four-week nursing assistant course to 19.5-month automotive degrees, to about 1,756 full-time students (fall 2024). The biggest recent change is the state probation of the Colorado Springs campus in April 2026, covered below.
Programs at IntelliTec’s four campuses
Every program is taught in person. Computer Systems Technician and Medical Billing & Coding are blended: after a six-week campus course, students can finish online. Each credit program opens with a College & Career Readiness course and closes with a 15-hour career development course, and the AOS degrees add general education such as critical thinking, business communications and American government. Prices are each program’s total on the campus price sheets dated November 2025; a different campus can differ by a few dollars, and Albuquerque’s medical programs cost less.

IntelliTec claims no programmatic accreditation for any program: no ASE Education Foundation, ABHES, CAAHEP, CODA or COMTA accreditation. The Nursing Assistant course is approved by the Colorado Board of Nursing. IntelliTec has no RN, LPN or practical nursing program; its nursing assistant page treats those as later steps elsewhere. An older Refrigeration & HVAC certificate at Grand Junction is being taught out; new students enter the degree.
What the main programs cover
Automotive Technician
Nine core courses take students through automotive electrical systems, engine fundamentals, diagnosis and repair, transmissions, air conditioning, brakes, steering and suspension, engine performance and light-vehicle diesel, and end in a capstone. Training aims at the entry-level ASE A1 to A9 tests, EPA Section 609 for vehicle air conditioning and the Pro-Cut Train Smart Level 1 credential. Shop work happens in separate automotive buildings at Colorado Springs, Grand Junction, Pueblo West and Albuquerque. The degree version adds general education to the same shop sequence.
Electrical Technician
Six electrical courses carry students through NCCER Core and Electrical Levels 1 to 4, with OSHA-10 safety, and wiring is practised in a mock apartment lab. IntelliTec presents the certificate as a route to an apprenticeship, not a licence: Colorado’s Residential Wireman exam requires 4,000 hours of work experience after school. Classes run Monday to Thursday, by day or evening, with optional Friday labs, at Colorado Springs and Pueblo.
Refrigeration & HVAC Technician
The degree splits between heating and air conditioning, including gas furnaces, hydronic heating, load calculations, duct design and controls, and refrigeration: refrigeration theory, basic and advanced systems, two commercial refrigeration courses and refrigerant recovery and evacuation. Students sit the ESCO EPA 608 exam and work through NCCER Core, OSHA-10 and NCCER HVAC Levels 1 to 4. IntelliTec names no NATE or HVAC Excellence credential and no state mechanical licence. General-education courses make up the rest of the 91.5 credits.
Medical Assistant
The certificate includes a 160-hour externship course (MAC-106), worth six credits. Students prepare for two AMT exams, Registered Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician, and earn BLS/CPR. IntelliTec claims no ABHES or CAAHEP accreditation for the program, and graduates are not eligible for the AAMA’s CMA exam. Some programs require immunizations, including MMR, TB, hepatitis B and COVID-19. The Healthcare Administration: Medical Assisting degree adds general-education courses such as leadership and business communications.
Massage Therapy
The 750-hour certificate moves through Swedish massage and ethics, kinesiology, anatomy, physiology and pathology, and deep tissue work, and finishes with a 150-hour clinical massage and marketing course run in the student clinic. Students also earn CPR/BLS. Graduates take the MBLEx, the national licensing exam, to apply for a massage licence in Colorado (DORA) or New Mexico (Regulation and Licensing Department). It is not taught at Colorado Springs.
Dental Assistant
Taught only at Grand Junction, the certificate trains dental assistants in a clinic with six treatment rooms and includes a dental radiography course, for which students must be 18. A five-credit externship places students in a working dental office. The program prepares for the DANB NELDA exams; the full Certified Dental Assistant credential needs 3,500 hours of work experience after graduation. No CODA accreditation is claimed.
Cost: one price per program, from November 2025 sheets
IntelliTec charges a flat price per program, the same for every student: there are no in-state or out-of-state tiers and no per-credit rate. The newest price sheets on its disclosures page are dated November 2025, and IntelliTec has published no 2026-27 sheet, so those are the prices that apply to current enrollments. Totals run from about $15,200 for Massage Therapy and $20,000 for Dental Assistant to about $40,500 for the HVAC degree and $41,200 for the Automotive degree; the Nursing Assistant course is $2,078. The only other charge on the sheets is a repeat-class fee of $250 or $500.

The Colorado Springs price sheet carries an older header, so check its date with the campus. Federal data put the average net price for grant recipients in 2023-24 at $29,512 a year at Colorado Springs and $19,004 at Grand Junction.
IntelliTec takes federal student aid: Pell Grants, FSEOG grants (typically $100 to $500 a year), Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized and Parent PLUS loans, and Federal Work-Study. Its two named scholarships, the IntelliTec Advantage Scholarship ($500, five awards eight times a year for first-time students) and the Senior Bridge to Career scholarship ($1,000 for high-school seniors and recent graduates, with a 300-word essay), are credited to the tuition balance only after 80% of the program is completed. VA education benefits are accepted, and the college lists the 2025-26 Silver Military Friendly and Military Spouse Friendly designations.
Admissions: a diploma and an interview
Applicants need a high-school diploma, GED or equivalent before the start date; a DD-214 showing a diploma, 24 or more passing college credits, or an evaluated foreign diploma also count. At some campuses, applicants without a diploma can enter certificate programs through Ability to Benefit testing (Accuplacer) and an eligible career pathway. The minimum age is 16, with a parent’s signature under 18. Admission includes a personal interview, a campus tour and a catalog review, and some health programs require immunizations.
Programs start about every six weeks, with the next start for most on 2 November 2026; Nursing Assistant starts every four weeks. Classes meet Monday to Thursday in a day session (9am to 2pm) or an evening session (5pm to 10pm), with optional Friday make-up labs.
Accreditation, the Colorado Springs probation and results
IntelliTec is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Colorado Springs is accredited separately, with its next review due in February 2029; Grand Junction, with its Pueblo and Albuquerque branches, is next reviewed in August 2030. The Colorado campuses are approved by the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s Private Occupational School Board, and Albuquerque by the New Mexico Higher Education Department.
In April 2026 the Colorado Private Occupational School Board placed the Colorado Springs campus’s certificate of approval on probation because its graduate job placement, 58% in May 2025, was below the 70% benchmark, KRDO reported on 26 August 2026. The probation has no end date and requires the school to report its 2025 and 2026 cohort results. The school told KRDO that students, programs, financial aid and credentials are not affected, that placement had reached 64% by 10 August 2026, and that it expects to meet the benchmark by the end of 2026. The probation applies to the Colorado Springs campus only.
In January 2024 the advocacy group Veterans Education Success wrote to ACCSC, relaying two student veterans’ complaints about recruiting and instruction and asking for a third-party recruiting audit. We found no ACCSC action on the letter.
IntelliTec’s 2025 report to ACCSC (July 2024 to June 2025, mostly students who started in 2021-23) gives a graduation rate (within 150% of normal time) and an in-field employment rate for each program. The table shows graduation / employment. The weakest results are at Colorado Springs, where only 13% of billing and coding certificate graduates, 19% of billing and coding degree graduates, 21% of computer systems graduates and 31% of electrical graduates were employed in their field.

Small programs swing a lot: some cells rest on fewer than ten students. Federal figures give an overall graduation rate within 150% of normal time of 51% at Colorado Springs and 63% for the Grand Junction group (students entering in 2021-22). IntelliTec publishes no licensure or certification pass rates for any program, and with no RN or practical nursing program there are no NCLEX results.
Before you enroll
- The Colorado Springs campus has been on state probation since April 2026 over job placement, and its 2025 in-field employment rates were 13% to 19% in billing and coding, 21% in computer systems and 31% in electrical. Ask for the latest figures for your program.
- Most programs cost $20,000 to $41,000 in full on the November 2025 price sheets. IntelliTec’s scholarships are paid only after 80% of the program is finished.
- IntelliTec claims no programmatic accreditation for any program. Medical Assistant graduates sit the AMT’s RMA exam, not the CMA, and no CODA accreditation is claimed for Dental Assistant.
- The Electrical Technician certificate does not make you an electrician: Colorado’s Residential Wireman exam needs 4,000 hours of work experience first.
- AOS degrees are occupational degrees. Ask any college you may transfer to whether it will accept the credits before you count on them.

IntelliTec’s corporate office, Suite 305 at 2504 E Pikes Peak Ave in Colorado Springs (the building that also holds the Colorado Springs medical classes), is not a separate campus.
Career help and externships
IntelliTec’s career services offer job leads, résumé and cover-letter help, interview coaching and career advice, and every credit program includes a 15-hour career development course. Externships are built into Medical Assistant (160 hours), Dental Assistant and Nursing Assistant; the billing and coding program describes none. The college names no employer partners. After the probation, IntelliTec says it added career-services staff at Colorado Springs and hired an outside firm to help place graduates and verify jobs. There is no student housing.
What students say
Niche has enough reviews for two campuses (checked 11 October 2026): Colorado Springs is rated 3.47 out of 5 from 124 reviews, and Grand Junction 4.43 out of 5 from 101. Pueblo and Albuquerque have too few reviews to summarize. Reviewers most often praise patient, supportive instructors and staff, the hands-on automotive and medical training, and help from admissions and financial aid advisors. The most common complaints are cost and debt compared with what students feel they learned, outdated equipment and curriculum (especially in electrical at Colorado Springs), and uneven instructor quality and turnover. The two campuses tell different stories, so read the page for the campus you would attend; we could not see the full review dates to judge whether many were invited by the school.
