What Is It Known For?
Metropolitan Career Tech Center operates under the Little Rock School District as a specialized career center for high school students. If you’re in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade and live within Pulaski County, you can enroll. This opens doors for public school kids, charter students, and those learning at home.
Over 700 students attend Metro, where partnerships matter as much as coursework. Through the CAPS Network, the center builds bridges between students and the working world.
It also collaborates with colleges, local employers, and organizations to create real opportunities. Some graduates take jobs immediately. Others use their training as a springboard into college or specialized programs.
Degrees & Certifications
Twelve different pathways prepare you for careers where workers are in demand. You can study:
- Automotive Services
- Construction Trades
- Criminal Justice
- Culinary Arts
- LPN Practical Nursing
- Networking and Cybersecurity
- Welding, and more.
While studying, you can rack up college credits, industry certifications, and internship hours.
Class Schedules
Two daily sessions divide the schedule at Metropolitan Career Technical Center. Morning slots run 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Afternoon blocks go from 12:50 p.m. to 3:50 p.m.
Most programs follow the district’s A/B schedule, which means classes meet every other day. The LPN pathway is the exception, meeting daily during the afternoon block to keep students on track with required clinical work.
Students who want a fuller schedule can enroll in two pathways, which place them on campus each day. Classes happen in person, though teachers may incorporate digital tools or online resources into lessons. Medical pathways weave in mandatory clinical hours/externships and internships.
Is It a Good School?

Overall Score: 4.4/5 Stars
Common Praises
Insufficient Data: There is no substantive positive feedback in the snippet provided, as most high-rated entries are very old or contain no text. The score of 4.4/5 suggests that some students had positive experiences, but the nature of those experiences cannot be determined from the reviews.
Common Criticisms
Staff/Behavioral Concerns: The only detailed, recent review reports a serious concern regarding a teacher’s “WEIRD and disturbing” behavior and the administration’s alleged failure to act on the complaint, even after a counselor agreed the behavior was strange. This suggests potential issues with administrative follow-through and a negative environment in specific classes.
Lack of Recent Engagement: The majority of the reviews are 3 to 9 years old, suggesting very low recent engagement from the student body or community on this platform.
Momentum
The momentum cannot be accurately assessed due to the extreme lack of recent, detailed feedback. The only recent review (7 months ago) is highly negative and suggests a significant problem with staff conduct and administrative accountability. Based on external search results, the Little Rock School District highlights that the Metropolitan Career-Technical Center offers various career pathways including programs in Automation, LPN Nursing, and Cybersecurity to help students gain real-world skills and industry certifications. However, the quality of delivery for these programs is not reflected in the provided Google reviews.
