Mohave College: Mohave County’s public college, now with bachelor’s degrees
Mohave College, known as Mohave Community College until 4 August 2025, is the public college district for Mohave County, Arizona. County voters created it in October 1970, classes began in 1971 and it joined the Arizona State System of Community Colleges in 1974. It teaches at four campuses, in Kingman (the main campus), Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City and Colorado City, and online. In fall 2025 it had over 4,600 credit students, and the college says it served nearly 8,000 credit and noncredit students during 2025. Most career programs are certificates and associate degrees, but HLC approved its first bachelor’s degrees in November 2025, and they opened for enrollment in Spring 2026. A 36,000 sq ft Advanced Manufacturing Training Center opened in Kingman in 2025.
Career programs and where they are taught
The college lists 45 program areas, from short certificates to bachelor’s degrees. The table shows the main career programs with the 2026-27 program fee the college charges each academic period on top of tuition. A dash means we could not confirm the detail from the college’s pages.

Programmatic accreditation, as the college lists it: ACEN for Nursing; CODA for Dental Hygiene; CAAHEP for Medical Assisting (on MAERB’s recommendation), Paramedic (CoAEMSP) and Surgical Technology (ARC/STSA); JRCERT for Radiologic Technology; CoARC provisional accreditation for Respiratory Care; CAPTE for Physical Therapist Assistant; and NASAC for Substance Abuse Counseling. The Arizona State Board of Nursing approves the nursing programs, and the Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of EMS certifies the EMT and paramedic programs.
Two programs need a closer look. Diagnostic Medical Sonography, launched in 2025 at Bullhead City, is not yet programmatically accredited; the college plans to apply for CAAHEP accreditation when the first cohort reaches clinicals. The Physical Therapist Assistant AAS is not accepting new students from Fall 2026, and current students continue to graduation. The college’s truck driving listing links to another school’s site.
What the main programs cover
Registered Nursing (AAS)
The AAS in Nursing runs four semesters and is offered at all four campuses; Kingman classes meet at the Detroit Avenue Center, which has simulation labs. Admission is selective: a TEAS 7 score of at least 62%, a 3.0 GPA in prerequisite courses and an active CNA/LNA certificate or a competency exam. Students become eligible to sit the NCLEX-PN after the second semester and the NCLEX-RN after the fourth, but the nursing page and program list show no separate practical nursing credential. An RN to BSN pathway is listed among the bachelor’s programs that opened in Spring 2026.
Dental Hygiene (AAS)
The program takes 20 months, four semesters plus a summer, at the Bullhead City campus in the Legacy Foundation Allied Health Building, and the college runs an on-campus dental hygiene clinic. It is 55 program credits after 21 credits of general-education prerequisites, which can be taken at any campus and partly online. Only 18 students start each fall, and applications for the class of 2029 open on 4 January 2027. Graduates take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination plus anesthesia and clinical board exams.
EMT and Paramedic
EMT is a 16-week course offered every semester and certified by the Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of EMS. Paramedic is a one-year certificate taught with simulation labs at the Kingman Detroit Avenue Center, and the college also lists a paramedic application period for Colorado City; a second year adds the Paramedic AAS. The paramedic program is accredited by CAAHEP on the recommendation of CoAEMSP, and in its 2025 annual report it recorded 96.3% retention and 100% positive placement.
Fire Science and the Fire Academy
Fire Science offers an AAS, a 27-credit Firefighter Certificate and a Fire Officer Certificate, with day, evening, limited weekend and online classes but no fire science classes in summer. The FSC 150 Fire Academy is IFSAC-approved and meets the Arizona Fire 1 and Fire 2 standards. It takes 20 students and runs either as a 16-week pre-service academy (two evenings plus Saturdays) or as a new 8-week full-time in-service trial. The City of Kingman Fire Department hosts the Fall 2026 academy and the Bullhead City fire department the Spring 2027 academy (12 February to 9 May 2027).
Welding Technology
Welding is taught at Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City and the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center in Kingman, with instructors at each. Students choose among four certificates: Introduction to Welding, Pipe Welding & Fabrication, Production Welding, and Structural Steel Welding & Fabrication. The college says the training aligns with American Welding Society certifications, and it runs an AWS weld-testing facility that welders who are not students can also use. The college’s degree inventory page still lists different process certificates (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW), so confirm which certificate you are enrolling in.
Automotive Collision Repair
Collision repair runs 12 months, three full-time semesters, in building 1000 at the Bullhead City campus. It is divided into three certificates: Automotive Bodywork, Automotive Estimating and Automotive Refinishing. Coursework uses a competency-based platform, and each semester admits 16 students. Automotive Service Technology, also at Bullhead City, is a separate program: its Basic and Advanced Automotive Technology Certificates combine classroom and shop work toward ASE certification, and the college says all its instructors are ASE certified.
2026-27 tuition, program fees and aid
Tuition is charged per credit hour, and the college says its Governing Board can change rates without notice. There is a single Arizona-resident rate, with no separate out-of-county rate on the tuition page.
| 2026-27 tuition per credit | Lower-division (100-200 level) | Upper-division (300-400 level, bachelor’s) |
|---|---|---|
| Arizona resident | $98 | $147 |
| Out-of-state | $353 | $529 |
| Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) | $147 | $219 |
| Active-duty military | $147 | $213 |
| Arizona residents aged 62 and over | 50% of tuition; fees in full | – |
Program fees are charged per academic period on top of tuition. Examples for 2026-27: Registered Nursing $1,000, Dental Hygiene $1,851 (plus $1,140 in summer), Paramedic $1,089, Welding $1,322, HVAC $525, Medical Assisting $475 and the Fire Academy $2,500. Institution and course fees are listed separately in the college’s fee schedule. At the resident rate, 30 lower-division credits come to $2,940 in tuition before any fees. Niche, using federal data, gives a net price of $6,120 a year (checked October 2026).
Mohave College takes federal student aid and says it disbursed nearly $15 million in financial aid in 2025. Its aid pages list Academic Scholarships, the Early Start Scholarship Program and Mohave College Foundation scholarships, and a Veteran and Military Services page gives guidance on VA benefits.
Open admission, with selective health and public-safety programs
The college has open admission, but several programs set their own entry steps and seat limits. Nursing requires a TEAS 7 score of 62% or more, a 3.0 prerequisite GPA and an active CNA/LNA or a competency exam. Dental Hygiene takes 18 students each fall; Collision Repair 16 each semester; the Fire Academy 20, with EMT required for Spring 2027. Sonography applications ran from 2 January to 31 May 2026 for an August start, and Respiratory Care applications from 5 January to 1 August 2026.
Besides 16-week semesters, the college runs 12-week and 8-week sessions; in fall 2025, 12-week classes began on 15 September and 8-week classes on 13 October. Dental Assisting and Surgical Technology are full-time only, and Medical Billing and Coding is online with required live Zoom sessions.
HLC accreditation and published results
Mohave College has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 24 April 1981. In October 2023 HLC reaffirmed its accreditation with monitoring: an interim report on how the college assesses student learning, which HLC accepted in July 2025 together with a report on the budget and finances, and continued monitoring of resources and planning at the next Assurance Review, scheduled for April 2027, according to HLC’s status page and its October 2023 action letter. HLC lists no sanction, and the next reaffirmation is due in 2032-33. HLC’s record now shows the legal name Mohave College and authorizes certificate, associate and bachelor’s programs.

Nursing’s first-time NCLEX-RN pass rate fell below the program’s own 80% benchmark in 2022-23 before recovering. The EMT pass rates on the college’s site cover only the 2016 to 2019 cohorts, so they are not shown here.
Before you enroll
- Program fees can exceed tuition. The Welding fee of $1,322 per academic period is more than 12 credits of resident tuition ($1,176), and Dental Hygiene adds $1,851 per academic period plus $1,140 in summer.
- Physical Therapist Assistant is closed to new students from Fall 2026, and Diagnostic Medical Sonography is not yet programmatically accredited. Respiratory Care holds only provisional CoARC accreditation and has no published outcomes yet.
- The college claims CODA accreditation for Dental Hygiene but not for Dental Assisting, and it does not claim ABA approval for the Paralegal programs.
- Many programs are taught at a single campus: dental hygiene, dental assisting, sonography and both automotive programs at Bullhead City, Respiratory Care at the Detroit Avenue Center in Kingman. The four campuses are spread across Mohave County, so check where each course meets before you choose.
- Dental Hygiene applications are closed until 4 January 2027, for a class that graduates in 2029.

Kingman has two credit teaching centers away from the main campus: the Detroit Avenue Center (1801 Detroit Avenue) for nursing, EMS, fire science and respiratory care, and the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center (4415 N. Windrose, Kingman Airport Industrial Park), which opened in 2025 and has enrolled 125 or more students since. The Colorado City campus was formerly the North Mohave Campus. Noncredit workforce training meets at Studio 307 on Beale Street in Kingman.
Student housing, clinics and athletics
The Mohave Village Apartments on the Bullhead City campus opened in July 2024 and are the college’s only housing; the college calls them the region’s first college student housing. Applications for 2026-27 need a $300 deposit, a background form and proof of MMR immunization, with priority deadlines of 24 April for returning and 2 June for new students.
Several programs build in work experience: a 90-hour Phlebotomy externship, Dental Assisting internships in local dental offices, a Medical Assisting practicum, patient care in the Dental Hygiene clinic, and clinicals in nursing, surgical technology, sonography, respiratory care and paramedic training. The college fields NJCAA men’s and women’s soccer teams; the men’s team reached the national semifinals in 2025, its second season.
What students say on Niche
On Niche, Mohave College is rated 3.69 out of 5 from 510 reviews, with an overall grade of B (checked 12 October 2026); Niche still lists the college under its former name. Reviewers most often praise accessible, supportive instructors, helpful advisors and an easy application and enrollment process, and online classes that fit around work and family. The most common complaints are limited student life and activities, the timing of financial-aid disbursements and tuition changes, and uneven quality among faculty. The reviews cover the whole college rather than one campus or program, and we could not tell whether they were invited by the school or posted in bursts.
