What Is It Known For?
When the State Board of Education granted a charter in September 1967, Montgomery Technical Institute came into being. Extension classes started that year, with full-time students arriving in August 1968. The first graduates walked across the stage in June 1969, less than a year later.
After citizens approved a bond issue in October 1975, construction began on a new 64,000-square-foot campus spanning 149 acres. Today, over 1,000 students attend classes across that space. The institution evolved through name changes, becoming Montgomery Technical College in 1983 before settling on Montgomery Community College in 1987.
