What Is It Known For?
At just 21 years old, Shelton Ogle opened his first salon. Success came quickly, but he noticed something right away: finding well-trained stylists was nearly impossible. That shortage became the spark for something bigger.
By 23, Shelton opened both his second salon and his first school in Arlington, TX, in 1973. He developed teaching methods focusing on technical skills and personal branding, turning Ogle School into one of Texas’s most successful beauty education institutions.
Today, nine locations serve over 400 students per campus throughout Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston. Across 50 years, tens of thousands of beauty professionals have graduated from Ogle School programs.
Degrees & Certifications
After completing your program requirements, you’ll receive an Ogle School Diploma. The school trains aspiringcosmetologists and estheticians through modern, hands-on education that helps you find your perfect career path.
Programs also include business knowledge and practical experience alongside technical training. Full-time cosmetology students typically finish in seven months, while part-time students complete the program in about 13 months. The esthetics program runs as little as five months full-time or ten months part-time.
Class Schedules
All programs at Ogle School run Monday through Friday only. Full-time students can select morning-afternoon schedules from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM or afternoon-evening sessions from 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Part-time options include morning classes from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM or evening sessions from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The school also offers hybrid courses.
Your education will also involve working with real, paying customers in a simulated salon environment. There are no externships since regulatory standards require all client services to be on campus unless you’re participating in an approved field trip supervised by an instructor.
Is It a Good School?

Reviews
Based on reviews in Google, Ogle School in Arlington has an extremely strong and almost universally positive reputation for its student-provided services, particularly in the esthetics department (facials and skincare). Clients consistently praise the skill, professionalism, and personalized attention given by the student stylists and estheticians. The few criticisms are older and relate to specific quality control or administrative issues that the management actively addresses.
Overall Score: 4.7/5 Stars
Common Praises
Exceptional Student Skill and Professionalism: Clients are consistently impressed with the talent of the student operators. Whether for haircuts, color, or facials, students are described as “professional,” “attentive,” and “detail-oriented.”
Outstanding Esthetics/Skincare Services: The skincare services, including facials, microdermabrasion, and lash extensions, receive glowing reviews. Clients frequently use words like “amazing,” “relaxing,” “soothing,” and mention leaving with skin that is “clean, soft, [and] glowing.” Students are praised for explaining every step and creating a comfortable, peaceful environment.
Incredible Value/Affordability: The phrase “Great price” or “Reasonable price” is included in many recent positive reviews, highlighting the excellent service received for the cost of a student clinic.
Supportive and Welcoming Environment: The overall atmosphere is repeatedly described as “warm and welcoming.” Clients feel that the staff and students show professionalism and respect, making them feel comfortable throughout their service, even when receiving complex treatments.
Effective Mentorship and Instruction: One reviewer noted that the floor instructor was excellent in guiding the student, demonstrating that the supervising staff is actively involved in ensuring quality and student learning.
Common Criticisms
Sanitation/Hygiene Concerns (Older): A serious, but isolated, complaint from two years ago alleged specific “sanitation issues” that required official authority follow-up. Note: The owner’s response indicated they were aware of the issue and were working toward a resolution.
Hair Service Quality Control (Isolated): One specific instance (a year ago) reported that a daughter’s elaborate hairstyle failed quickly (rubber bands busted) within an hour of leaving, and the parent faced difficulties getting a prompt administrative response for a refund or correction.
Product/Technical Issues (Isolated): One client noted a negative color experience (3 months ago), though they later received a follow-up visit, which suggests the school is willing to resolve technical mishaps.
Momentum
The momentum is extremely strong and positive. The vast majority of the most recent reviews (within the last 6 days to 3 months) are highly detailed, 5-star reviews praising the skill of specific students in diverse services (haircuts, facials, lashes). The overwhelming recent focus on excellent service quality and great pricing far outweighs the handful of older quality-control complaints. The school appears to be successfully preparing students to deliver high-quality client experiences.
