Reviews

Based on reviews in Google, Platt College (Moore, OK) had a highly polarized reputation defined by exceptional instructors but plagued by severe operational, administrative, and financial issues common to many for-profit institutions.

Overall Score: 3.3/5 Stars

Common Praises

Highly Dedicated and Knowledgeable Instructors: The most consistent praise was for the faculty. Reviewers frequently singled out specific Medical Assisting/RMA instructors for being “wonderful,” “one of the best,” extremely knowledgeable, hands-on, and genuinely caring about student success, often maintaining contact even after graduation.

Fast-Paced Programs: Students looking for a quick path to a career appreciated the “very fast paced” nature of the programs, which allowed for rapid completion.

Common Criticisms

High Cost and Poor Value: The most intense criticism was focused on the school’s expense and status as a for-profit college. Reviewers strongly advised prospective students to choose significantly “cheaper” alternatives like vocational or community colleges, with one stating staff “do not care about your success, only about your money.”

Administrative and Financial Chaos: The administration was frequently criticized for being disorganized and unprofessional, leading to major issues like changing graduation dates, providing inaccurate information, and difficult corporate policies. One graduate reported a multi-year fight to remove a “fraudulent charge” before finally receiving their diploma.

Inadequate Career Preparation and Education: Students warned that the education was insufficient, with one graduate returning to another school to “ACTUALLY learn what I wasn’t taught” at Platt. Pre-exam reviews were deemed useless, and one severe review warned students would be “cheated out of anything that remotely resembles a career.”

Hostile and Unprofessional Student Environment: Several students reported a toxic culture, including being “bullied by teachers, students and administration” and facing disciplinary action or having to leave the school due to unsubstantiated rumors.

Facility and Resource Issues: Minor complaints included overcrowded classrooms, over-stressed faculty, limited computer access, and a lack of proper study areas.

Momentum

The reviews were concentrated in the years prior to the school’s permanent closure in 2021. The consistent pattern of severe administrative and financial complaints, despite the dedication of its instructors, indicates that the underlying structural issues persisted up until the school closed its doors. The last confirmed information is the school’s closure, which suggests that the negative trends ultimately prevailed.
