Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a dedicated time to recognize the vital role truck drivers play in keeping our economy running smoothly. Held annually in September, this event shines a spotlight on the hardworking individuals who transport goods across the country, often navigating long hours, challenging weather conditions, and the pressures of tight delivery schedules.
How Is It Being Celebrated?
Truck Driver Appreciation Week is an opportunity for companies, organizations, and the general public to express their gratitude.
Circle K – Circle K is celebrating Truck Driver Appreciation Week from September 15-21, 2024, by offering special deals and free gifts to truck drivers. Throughout the week, Circle K Pro fleet card customers can send truck drivers a free snack or beverage, such as coffee, chips, or water, through a dedicated website, along with a personalized message.

Army & Air Force– The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) is celebrating National Truck Driver Appreciation Week by recognizing its nearly 200 truck drivers who help fulfill the organization’s mission of delivering goods and services to military personnel worldwide.
“Exchange drivers are essential to our mission,” – Army Col. Kenneth McGraw.
State of Maine – In celebration of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week from September 16-20, 2024, several events are planned across Maine to honor the state’s nearly 35,000 truck drivers. United Insurance and the Maine Motor Transportation Association will distribute free safety equipment, such as safety vests, work gloves, travel mugs, and coffee at various Irving truck stops and the Maine Turnpike’s Kennebunk Service Plaza.
“We’re happy to do our part to help truck drivers feel appreciated, but the best way to thank a trucker is to give them the space they need to do their jobs,” – Tim Doyle, Maine Motor Transport Association.

State of Alabama – During National Truck Driver Appreciation Week from September 15-21, Alabama celebrates its truck drivers, recognizing their essential role in keeping the state’s economy moving. Governor Kay Ivey emphasized that over 85% of Alabama’s communities rely exclusively on trucks for goods like produce and manufactured items.
“They are true American heroes who deserve to be honored and appreciated every single day of the year.” – Joe Black, Alabama Trucking Association

Truckers Against Trafficking – The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) is partnering with Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) to celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. As part of the celebration, OOIDA and TAT are giving away five over-the-ear, hands-free Storm Headsets from Blue Tiger USA through a Facebook drawing. Truckers can enter the giveaway between September 16-18, with winners announced on September 20. Additionally, the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund is using the month to raise funds for drivers in need, organizing their annual “Hope-A-Thon” with $25,000 in corporate donations to support their mission.
Thank a Driver!
For individuals, simple gestures such as saying thank you, sharing messages of appreciation on social media, or acknowledging the hard work of truckers at rest stops can go a long way in boosting morale.
Without these drivers, many of the essential goods we rely on daily—from groceries to medical supplies—would never reach their destinations.

The Importance of Truck Drivers
Truck drivers are the unsung heroes of the supply chain. Approximately 70% of all freight in the U.S. is moved by trucks, according to the American Trucking Associations (ATA). This means that nearly every product we purchase has been on a truck at some point. From delivering raw materials to manufacturers to stocking store shelves with consumer goods, truckers play an essential role in every stage of the supply chain.
Conclusion
Beyond just moving goods, truck drivers are also instrumental in keeping industries like construction, healthcare, and retail functioning. Whether it’s transporting building materials to job sites or ensuring medical equipment reaches hospitals, the impact of truckers is felt across nearly every sector of the economy.
Truck drivers are essential to the nation’s economy, and Truck Driver Appreciation Week serves as a reminder to recognize and value their contributions. By acknowledging their hard work, we not only show gratitude but also highlight the importance of an industry that keeps the country moving.
