Southern Nevada’s community college. Automotive technology is taught to ASE standards at the North Las Vegas campus, and all HVAC classes are now in the HVAC Center of Excellence at the Western Center on West Bonanza Road. It also has diesel and heavy equipment, AWS-recognized welding, collision repair, nursing (ADN and practical nursing), a CAAHEP-accredited paramedic degree and dental hygiene. Nursing and other health programs are limited-entry.

A campus-only trade school founded in 2002 as Air Conditioning Technical Institute. Diplomas in HVAC and commercial refrigeration (with EPA 608 and OSHA 10), electrician (with solar PV training), automotive technology and personal fitness training, plus a new massage therapy diploma. Its HVAC program is accredited by HVAC Excellence and its automotive program by the ASE Education Foundation. Classes meet Monday to Thursday.

Its 78% graduation rate for 2021-22 A&P starters was the highest of any AIM campus in the 2025 accreditor report. A change of AIM’s ownership was announced in September 2026 and is pending.

NTI moved its Nevada campus in 2026 from Henderson to East Patrick Lane in Las Vegas, where it teaches HVAC, electrical and plumbing courses, campus or hybrid. A second campus in Sparks, near Reno, was announced in July 2026 with first classes planned for November 2026. Courses end in an NTI certificate of completion, not a license.

It has full approval from the Nevada State Board of Nursing, and the board reports its first-time NCLEX-RN pass rate rising from 75.51% (74 of 98) in 2024 to 83.64% (46 of 55) in 2025.

Nova Southeastern University opened a Henderson campus in June 2026 for a 27-month master’s degree for anesthesiologist assistants, $69,604 a year in tuition for the first two years. It is a graduate program, not trade training, so it has no card here.
We have not yet profiled the valley’s union apprenticeship programs for electricians, plumbers and other building trades, or most of its barber, beauty and private truck-driving schools. Before you enroll at one, check that it is licensed by the Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education or approved by the board for your trade.
- A certificate is not a license. Electricians in Clark County need a journeyman ID card after an ICC exam, and contractors need a Nevada State Contractors Board license.
- Four private schools here take no federal aid: Advanced Career Institute (except Ag Transportation), Hands On HVAC, NTI and Welding School of Nevada; Avalon says to ask the campus. NTI, Hands On HVAC and Welding School of Nevada are not accredited.
- Check nursing results: NCLEX-RN first-time pass rates for 2025 ranged from 77.6% (Carrington Las Vegas) to 91.67% (GCU Henderson, school figure), and Nevada Career Institute’s new RN degree has no results yet.

Paying for training
- Federal aid: CSN and 14 of the 19 private schools take Pell Grants and federal loans through the FAFSA. Advanced Career Institute (except Ag Transportation), Hands On HVAC, NTI and Welding School of Nevada do not, and Avalon says to ask the campus.
- Nevada Promise Scholarship: a last-dollar scholarship that covers up to three years of tuition and registration fees at a Nevada community college for recent Nevada high school graduates, and for people who finish a high school equivalency before age 20. The class of 2027 applies from 1 August to 31 October 2026 and must complete the required steps, including the FAFSA and community service.
- Workforce and rehabilitation funding: Northwest Career College lists NV Job Connect (the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation) and rehabilitation agencies, and Nevada Career Institute accepts WIOA and Vocational Rehabilitation funding.
- Veterans and service members: ATI, AIM, Las Vegas College, NCI, Pima and UEI accept VA education benefits, and MyComputerCareer’s Cyber Warrior Program is SkillBridge eligible for service members leaving the military.
Trade pathways and licensing
How each trade works in Nevada, how long training takes, what it pays and which license you need. Pay is the Las Vegas-Henderson-North Las Vegas median annual wage for all experience levels (BLS 2025, via O*NET OnLine).
Electrical
Nevada has no statewide license for electricians who work for a contractor. In Clark County, electricians need a journeyman ID card: pass the ICC G17 journeyman or G18 residential electrician exam, then apply to Electrical Safety Professionals (ESP), which runs the county’s ID card program. Electrical contractors need a Nevada State Contractors Board license.

HVAC, plumbing and welding
Anyone who handles refrigerant needs federal EPA 608 certification, and HVAC and plumbing contractors need a Nevada State Contractors Board license. Plumbers also need a local journeyman card, so check Clark County’s or your city’s rules. Welders are tested to AWS codes by employers; Nevada has no welder license.

Automotive, aviation and truck driving
Truck drivers need a Nevada Class A commercial driver’s license after federal entry-level driver training. Aircraft mechanics need the FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate, issued after the FAA’s written, oral and practical tests. Nevada has no license for auto or diesel technicians; ASE certification is the usual credential.

Beauty and wellness

It depends on the trade. For the lowest cost, the College of Southern Nevada charges $166.75 a credit with fees. Are there free trade schools in Las Vegas for adults?
